Ledermaske model 1917
To provide better gas protection German Army issued a new type of gas mask in June 1917 made of sheep leather. The leather was impregnated with oil to prevent entry of gas to the inside of the mask.
The mask and can are with all original straps. This type of mask had duoble lenses which were made of celluloid. This example has a special cotton fibre filter introduced in May 1918.
