In this part I would like to present all postcards related to the Pommersches Pionier Bataillon Nr.2. It is very hard to find any information, photos and documents. So far I managed to collect several postcards presents below.
The most important postcard presents Bronislaus in the uniform, photo taken in April 1916 on the Eastern front.
This postcard Bronislaus sent to his wife Weronika. I will translate it later….in one of the next posts.
Group of the pioneers wearing a twill uniforms. On the backyard is visible the pontoon, photo taken in the courtyard of the barracks in Stattin.
Mambers of the Pomm. Pion. Batl. 2, recruits unit during building footbridge. The photos were taken on the island “Piepenwerder” located in Stettin in 20 June 1915. Number of the 2 Bataillon is visible on the shoulder strap.
This postcard presents group of pioneers from 2nd or 3rd company of Pomm. Pion. Batl. Nr.2 these companies in 1914-1915 were in Champagne. The number of the bataillon is visible on the pickelhaube cover soldier standing on the right.
Group of the pioneers from Stettin photo taken on the polygone (Truppen Übungsplatz) in Kreckow. Pioneers are wear the twill trousers and old pre war tunics. The postcard is stamped 4.10.1914.
Member of the Pommersches PB 2 equipped with the pick. Photo probably taken in 1915 or 1916 on the Eastern front. The battalion number is visible on the helmet cover. Colour of the troddel indicate for 2nd of 4th company. We can see also bayonet S98/05 with saw which was the main bayonet used by the engineer troops.
Studio photo of three members of Pommersches Pionier Bataillon Nr.2. The postcard sent by Pionier Ebert from 11 Ersatz Kompanie in 25 May 1916. Quite clearly visible are black shoulder straps with number 2.

Occasional postcard shows a banner of the Pommerschen Pionier Bataillons Nr. 2. with emblem of the Pomeranian district.
Group of musicians from Pommer’schen Pionier Bataillons Nr. 2. The postcard is dated 1903. Each Regiment, Battalion had its own branch of the musicians.
Studio photo of the 13 pioneers from Pomm.Pionier Batl. Nr. 2. Photo take in Stettin in April 1914. Number of the Battalion is clearly visible. Two soldiers from the bottom row holds “Puppet” which completely does not match the seriousness of that event.
Another studio photo of the Pomeranian Pioneers. Photo take in Stettin in February 1915. The battalion number visible on the shoulder strap as well as on the small emblem visible on the left. Postcard signed 3 Rekr. Dep. P. P. Batl. 2 – which means 3 Rekruten Depot of Pommersches Pionier Bataillon Nr. 2.
Superb occasional postcard presents shoulder strap of the 2nd Pomeranian pioneer battalion and two soldiers wearing different types of the uniforms “Dunkelblau Waffenrockor” and “feldgrau Waffenrock”.

Pioneer from P.B.2 photographed probably in the courtyard of the Stettiner barracks. Postcard published in 1915, engineer is wearing a “dunkelblau” pre-war waffenrock.
Studio photo of the P.B.2 pioneer in full gear. On the pickelhaube cover well visible is number “2″ representative the number of the battalion. Visible is also a bayonet S 98/05 old pattern with sawback and a handle from a pioneer tool (pick or axe).

The pre war tunics could indicated that the photo was took in Stettin’s barracks.
