In this part I would like to present all postcards related to the Pommersches Pionier Bataillon Nr.2. It is very hard to find any information, photos and documents. So far I managed to collect several postcards presents below.

The most important postcard presents Bronislaus in the uniform, photo taken in April 1916 on the Eastern front. This postcard Bronislaus sent to his wife Weronika. I will translate it later….in one of the next posts.

A nice group photo of the P.B 2 pioneers equipped with pioneer spade and bayonets S 98/05 with saw.
The pre-war tunics could indicated that the photo was took in Stettin’s barracks.




Studio photo of the P.B.2 pioneer in full gear. On the pickelhaube cover well visible is number “2″ representative the number of the battalion. Visible is also a bayonet S 98/05 old pattern with sawback and a handle from a pioneer tool (pick or axe).

Superb occasional postcard presents shoulder strap of the 2nd Pomeranian pioneer battalion and two soldiers wearing different types of the uniforms “Dunkelblau Waffenrockor” and “Feldgrau Waffenrock”.

Colour of the troddel indicate for 2nd of 4th company. We can see also bayonet S98/05 with saw which was the main bayonet used by the engineer troops.
